"I joined as part of my focus on my professional development. I was a professional member of ADES, but I wanted to take a broader view of public service. The Solace website showed a much deeper understanding of transformation and a real focus on delivering outcomes differently. It was about systems leadership, rather than having to hold onto everything ourselves, with a genuine commitment to working more broadly and creatively. There was so much added value too, via articles, events and leadership programmes.
I find the e-briefings very useful; the hyperlinks are different from those from the LGC / MJ. At present it’s probably a little Scotland-lite, although this is something they are working on! Solace Scotland and the main Summit are very well organised, and a lot of thought goes into it.
I’m quite often asked to speak to colleagues on a professional basis, and I regularly ask them whether they’ve ever thought about looking on the Solace website. It really offers a lot of additional creative, innovative ideas – and networking is a huge part of the benefit. It’s also a fantastic talent pipeline, with Springboard an excellent way of identifying and supporting talent up the organisation. And with an awareness of personal development extending beyond the top tiers of organisations, there’s an increasing appetite for high-calibre professional support."
